Did I pull it off? Or did the deal fall apart?

by neckontheline on October 13, 2009

That’s what everybody wants to know right now. Did I really buy and sell a house in 2 weeks and train my mentee, Torrey Brothers, how to do it so he can walk away with $10,000 as I promised? Or, did the deal blow up at the last minute and I have to high-tail it out of North Carolina?

Yesterday, after getting more than 150 people through the house over the weekend we were poring over the bids from the round-robin auction. We were wrestling over whether to make $10,000 right away or wait 3 weeks for a buyer, who is already pre-approved, to buy the property and cash Torrey out, which would earn about $30,000 in 3 weeks. To complicate matters even more, Torrey received this cashier’s check!

$10,000 check

So what happened? Did we do it? Or did everything fall apart at the 11th hour?

Find out tomorrow …

In the meantime, go here to post your comments about what you do. Would you want to make $10,000 right away or $30,000 3 weeks from now. See what others have had to say and post your comments here.

And then check back tomorrow to find out whether we won or lost The Extreme Real Estate Challenge.

I’d take the $10K- how can you be sure the guy with $30K is going to pull through?

Its the revised earnest money; nonrefundable holding fee/deposite … 10K instead of the original 5K from the Lady who will close in 3 weeks … :) … !!! Hooooray!! Yayeee!! Jason wins the Challenge … Torry wins (in soooo many ways) … a couple of charities win … everyone personally involved wins and all of us observers win …. sure seems like a win-win-win-win-win to me ….. Its been educational, very interesting and lots of fun. Plaudits for Jason, Torry et al.
